Mauri:
If someone asked you to play the parts of a bull-dyke photographer, Mary-Kate Olsen, and a 5 foot chipmunk, wouldn’t you sign up?
Michelle:
I'm a total '80s chick! The Go-Gos was my favorite band and I actually wore leg warmers the FIRST time they were in style!! (Oh wait a minute, an actress is never supposed to reveal her age). I mean, I've HEARD that people wore that stuff in the OLD days! All kidding aside, LAME is a real fun adventure into the genre of '80s movies with a twist of today! The beauty of my character, Murray, is that she honestly, positively, and truly believes that someday, she can be LAME!!!
Jenny:
I loved the '80s: the music… the dancing… the movies.... the clothes. This show incorporates all of those elements and makes fun of it all at the same time. I’m having such a blast and can’t wait to share this totally rad show with an audience!
Peter:
I didn't like the '80s so much, but I liked the escape the movies brought me. I tried to use the pipes in my basement, back in Galesburg, Illinois, as parallel bars after seeing "Footloose" and "American Anthem". I tore them off the ceiling and flooded the basement. As usual, things always happened better in the movies. I'm doing this show, because I think Rich Nathanson is a f*##%&$ brilliant genius.
Doug:
If I have to play one more character that carries his dead girlfriend’s ashes around inside an Academy Award statuette, I may have to quit the business.
Juliette:
Looking back at the 80’s, it seems like the “What was I Thinking?” decade. So I used that same mindset when deciding whether to do this show. When I was offered a role, I skipped all the way home. Then, I read the script. This has been, by far, the worst experience I’ve ever had. And I don’t see any hope of it getting any better.
Tyler:
I really miss the days when I was jamming out to Toto and Huey Lewis wearing his Members Only jacket, Parachute pants and spiked hair. I realized I was hetero when watching the bad girl princess on Buck Rogers, and weekly episodes of Solid Gold. Marilyn McCoo, baby... Marilyn McCoo.
Jackson:
The great master of suspense Alfred Hitchcock was said to have viewed his
actors as little more than props. By comparison, Rich tends to look at his
actors more like cattle. LAME has been a mooooving experience, and it's
always a pleasure being part of the Nathanson Herd.
Evita:
Working with non-dancers is always the most fun because they actually try everything you throw at them; they just don't know that some moves are physically impossible. These guys went through a 2 day boot camp where all the dance routines were taught in a dim lit, no air conditioned cell with no breaks or water for 67 hours. And then all were taken to the hospital for emergency care. I was very impressed by the commitment from this cast. They are real troopers.
